Classic Woodcraft · Bayswater, Victoria

Since 1980.

Four decades of turning, cutting and shaping timber for Australia’s period homes. Same workshop. Same people. Same care.

Verandah posts, balusters, fretwork and finials. Made here since 1980.

Classic Woodcraft began in Bayswater in 1980, turning timber for Victorian, Edwardian and Federation homes. Since then our work has gone onto homesteads, terraces, country verandahs, shopfronts and showrooms right across Australia.

Every photo on this page is from our own archive: real jobs, real workshop days, real houses.

A note to our customers

A new ABN. The same workshop, the same people, the same standards.

Classic Woodcraft now trades under a new Australian Business Number. It’s a change to our business registration only — the paperwork behind the name.

Nothing that matters to you has moved. Same Bayswater workshop, same team, same machines, same patterns and profiles built up since 1980 — and the same way of working: measure carefully, make it properly, and stand behind every piece that leaves the floor.

New ABN: 69 162 659 421. Existing quotes and orders are honoured as normal.

How we make it

By hand. By machine. By CNC.

One workshop covers the whole range. A one-off column for a restoration, a matched run of 200 balusters for a builder, or a modern profile cut to your drawing — we pick the right method for the job.

By hand

Traditional hand turning for one-offs, oversize pieces and restoration matches — even when all you have is an old post to copy.

By machine

Copy lathes, band saws and heavy European workshop machinery for matched sets and consistent repeat runs.

Send us a photo or a drawing. If it can be turned, cut or shaped in timber, chances are we’ve made it.
