How to Copy Your Existing Timber Post?

Three steps, about two minutes. Measure, photograph, send it to us.

Step 1. Measure Your Existing Post

Step 1. Measure Your Existing Post

Please measure your post carefully and record the following dimensions:

 1. Total post length (allow extra length)
 2. Width and depth of the square sections (top and bottom)
 3. Length of each turning section

Step 2. Provide 3 Clear Photos

Step 2. Provide 3 Clear Photos

If you cannot send the original post to us, please take clear, straight-on photos of the post.

 1. Front View
 2. Side View
 3. Close up

Step 3. Send Us the Details

Four quick questions. If you are unsure of a measurement, pick the closest and we will confirm it with you.

1. Total post length
Closest is fine — allow a little extra.
2. Square section size (top and bottom)
Closest is fine.
3. Timber
4. How many posts
5. Front view photo
Straight on, whole post in frame.
6. Side view photo
7. Close up of the turning
This is what we copy the profile from.

Photos: if the upload does not work on your device, just email them to peter@woodturn.com.au with your name and we will match them to your request.

Step 4 — After Quotation Approval

Once you accept the quote, you can either send the original post to our Bayswater workshop for us to copy, or simply confirm the measurements and photos you have already given us. We then manufacture a new post to match your original as closely as possible — usually around 3 to 4 weeks.
